Kumano Kodo; a thousand years of prayers

In the Kii Mountains, located approximately in the center of the Japanese Islands, three sacred places called “Kumano Sanzan”, “Mt Koya” and “Yoshino & Omine” have existed and formed various beliefs and cultures for more than a thousand years. Those three sacred places and the routes that connect them are called “Kumano Kodo” and are registered as a World Heritage Site.

“Kumano Kodo” is pilgrimage routes. On each route that has been stepped firmly by countless of pilgrims over a long period of time, you will feel their prayers.

You may even hear the voice of mossy stone pavements or trees swinging in the wind if you walk the routes where the air is sacred unlike earthly life.

What will they ask you and speak to you?
